Why we do it, and why it is important
Voting is your power and your voice in our government. In our democracy, each time you get the chance to cast your vote, you are voicing your opinion. Each one counts. It is especially vital that we participate so we are choosing leaders that align with the values that matter to ourselves and the community. The majority of us have been impacted by government systems on a daily basis, and having people in office who care can help shape a future that is truly made for all of us. Voting also holds leaders accountable and reflects our will.
The right to vote was not available to many of us just decades ago, and using your right to do so is an honor to all of those who struggled to have a more inclusive and equitable society. It is not just a right, it is also your responsibility to be active in your country's decisions.
